Accreditation
Accreditation is a key part of MAP. Young people attending MAP work towards a National Open College Network qualification. Most learners will have the chance to achieve a NOCN Progression Award at Levels 1, 2 or 3 (equivalent to NVQ). This comprises of core units that focus on areas of personal development and target setting, as well as more specific skills-based units such as film-making or using graphics software.
MAP students work towards this qualification through an individually tailored programme which focusses on their interests, needs and learning style. Staff work closely with students to help them achieve the learning outcomes of the programme through their arts project work, which might involve planning an animation project, writing and recording lyrics or building a sculpture.
Students build a portfolio of evidence for assessment, which might include photos, digital work, project plans, sketchbooks and records of discussions and reviews with staff. Progression Awards represent 90 - 150 hours of work, depending on Level.
MAP also offers accredited learning for special outreach programmes and shorter projects. Young people can achieve AQAs and Youth Achievement Awards.
