Feedback from young people
"MAP helped me discover how to record music at home, how to deal with other people, and just generally made me a better person"

"I think the main way going to MAP helped was socially. I'd found other people my own age difficult to identify with, especially at school so it was a nice change. Being with people who were more artistic and creative rubs off, it's easier to make things independently when you're around other people who're inspired and busy too.
Working in groups was a new thing, challenging but rewarding and has been a great help to me long-term. I feel more confident now than I did before I started there, more comfortable with who I am generally and being around other people when I'd previously had problems with social anxiety.
As far as teacher support goes, it was always very specific to the student; if you were working on a solo project and just wanted to get on with it, there wasn't the suffocating teaching that you'd probably get from a school (I'm sure most people can remember having an art teacher "fixing" a drawing or a painting for them). At the same time, if there was something you hadn't done before, there was support readily available. Helpful but not stifling.
Much as it sounds unrelated, what I'm currently doing (I moved to Australia by myself and I'm currently at a University studying accounting) would not have been possible had I not done these things which made me feel more independent and confident."

"MAP helped me to find what I love (music) and how easy it is to create a simple music track... how to use different software and techniques. I learned about filming and cameras and it gave me the confidence to talk to other people, make new friends and try new things.
I'm still doing the stuff I love doing today - music making and film making. Thanks MAP."
